Creativity Roars!

"Houston based designer and founder of the nonprofit organization, Creativity Shell; Shelancia Daniel, has designed a new line of fabric to support youth mental health.  Since 2015, Daniel has been teaching sewing, quilting, cooking and other art classes to children throughout the Houston area.  After working directly with survivors recovering from sex trafficking, homelessness and other trauma, Daniel came to a hypothesis that mental health was the root cause of many of the obstacles facing our youth.  After starting the Creativity Shell, she and her team of artists, teachers, and everyday creative therapists, spend their time using their skills to boost positive mental health in children.  In collaboration with Moda Fabrics, the fabric line named Creativity Roars was designed with prints such as "Make Waves", "Check Yourself," and with an overall message of getting up when you are down and living life to the fullest!  Many of the projects that can be made with this fabric line include the Creativity Shell’s famous Sew a Little Love Line of Love Bugs, Love Hugs and the New Love Li Pattern.   Makers and sewists are encouraged to make Sew a Little Love items to give them to placed like hospitals and shelters that support positivity and youth mental health.   Creativity Roars is due to be delivered to small independent quilt shops nationwide by September 2023.  Funds raised from sales of Creativity Roars will be used to support the Creativity Shell and their efforts to use arts education classes such as sewing and textile arts to support youths in our communities."
