Arranmore Light
Taylor's Pick: A few years ago I visited Ireland and it was honestly one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Recently I used this yarn to make a shawl and I kept thinking about the limestone karst landscape that makes up the western part of Ireland: From a distance it looks rocky and barren but up close it is brimming with a variety of flora and fauna that dot the rocky hillsides with intense greenery, kind of like an earthy tweed yarn spun with soft green fibers... In the skein this yarn looks unassuming and feels slightly scratchy but the silk content adds some softness so that it knits up into a delightfully squishy, spongy fabric. A little bit from the generous skeins goes a long way, too.

Inspired by the breathtaking scenery of Ireland’s Northern Headlands, Arranmore Light yarn is spun in a mill that traces its roots to the homespun tweed industry of 19th century County Donegal. A finer weight than the popular Arranmore, Arranmore Light blends cashmere and silk with a fine merino wool to create an authentic tweed yarn of the finest quality. With a colour palette reminiscent of the wild Irish coastlands, Arranmore Light was designed for makers appreciating the best of luxury and tradition.
