Malabrigo Rios Zodiac

We are super excited to launch these new colors in Rios: Zodiac Collection

This collection was designed by Flor, a member of the Malabrigo design team who was inspired by tarot cards and astrology. The collection consists of twelve colors, each corresponding to one of the twelve signs of the zodiac.

To create each color, Flor first created a mood board for each zodiac sign, using concepts and key aspects of personality traits attributed to people born under each sign. Based on these mood boards, a color palette was selected and transferred into skeins. As an example, Pisceans are known for having a fanciful personality so she decided to add some colors typically associated with fantasies such as light blue, purple, and pink typically associated with fantasies and mythical creatures. Next, she added a deep green hue, relating these fantasies with the sea as well, since Piscis is a water sign.

Flor used the same process for all twelve colors, carefully testing and selecting different dyeing methods for each one.

This collection is highly personal, not only because it was born from the interests of the designer, but also because each knitter can choose a skein correlating to their own zodiac sign. Additionally, knitters interested in astrology can select skeins corresponding to their rising and moon signs too. This allows each knitter to purchase multiple colors that represent different personality traits.

Soft, strong, and washable, this 4-ply yarn is Malabrigo's workhorse! The plies help resist pilling and washability makes it fantastic for frequently-worn garments, housewares, and children and baby clothes. And like all our yarns, it’s super soft and great for next-to-the-skin wear! Spun from premium superwash merino, it comes in an array of watercolor-multi, semi-solid, and variegated colorways.

Be sure to get enough yarn to complete your project since each bag is a different dye lot, and skeins may vary from bag to bag.
