Bright Black is a Durham, NC-based company that uses scent as a platform for storytelling and for sharing positive narratives, especially those about Blackness. Why Durham?: Durham’s history is deep. Many folks think it began with the tobacco industry, but it runs way deeper than that. Home to Native tribes before the words North Carolina ever even had meaning, and then home to tenacious slaves who wouldn’t back down even under the harshest of conditions, Durham is rich with a history of grit, daring, and drive.
