 A very modern crescent-shaped shawl, Rattan is a fabulous addition to your wardrobe.  This stylish, airy shawl uses just one skein of beautiful yarn to create a very wearable accessory.  Snuggle it around your neck like a scarf or drape it over your shoulders for a more elegant look.

Rattan is long & slender and knitted from the top down.  It uses simple, familiar stitches which makes it an entertaining knit and a great project for knitters of all levels.  Includes written and charted instructions and directions on how to knit a larger Rattan Shawl.

Gauge: 18 stitches and 40 rows = 10 cm in garter stitch

Finished Measurements:

  • Width: approx. 190cm/725” (blocked) 
  • Depth at the widest part: approx. 28cm/11” (blocked)


Materials Used: 1 skein of Tosh Merino Light by Madelinetosh. (100% superwash Merino; 100g = 420yd/384m) in colorway ""winter wheat".  Approx. 420yd/384m of fingering-weight yarn.

Needle Size: US 5 - 3.75mm circular needles at least 24”/60cm long.

Pattern Includes: written instructions, charted instructions, instructions to make your shawl larger, schematic for blocking.
