Sunray Shawl by September Knits. My Sunray Shawl is knit from the top down beginning with a Garter Tab Cast-On. This shawl is worked back and forth utilizing soothing garter stitch and fun two-color brioche. Garter stitch is used to create the sun at the top of the shawl and throughout the body to portray the sky-like background. Two-color brioche is incorporated to mimic sunrays coming down the body of the shawl. As the shawl expands, additional two-color brioche ‘rays’ are worked to continue with the theme of the shawl. Brioche is continued in the border and finished with an I-Cord Bind-Off. Increases are made on both the right and wrong side of the edges to create a crescent shape. Long shawl wings are created this way to easily wrap around the body to provide warmth and stability.
